Annual leave entitlement in the UAE
Under Article 29 of UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 (Labour Law), full-time employees are entitled to paid annual leave of:
- 30 calendar days for each year of service after completing one year.
- 2 days per month if service is more than 6 months but less than one year.
- Leave for the part of the final year when employment ends.
Unpaid absence is not counted as service. The employer sets the leave dates according to work needs, and leave can be carried over or paid out only within the limits of the law and company policy.

Full-time private sector employees get 30 calendar days of paid annual leave per year after completing one year of service.
Do I get leave before completing one year?
Yes. After 6 months of service you earn 2 days of leave for each month until you complete your first year.
Are weekends included in annual leave?
UAE annual leave is counted in calendar days, so weekends and days off within your leave period are normally included.
